Cargill has started the production of a new sweetener called EverSweet, a zero-calorie sweetener made from two compounds found within the stevia leaf.

EverSweet is targeted at soft drinks producers who want to create low-calorie beverages without sacrificing great taste, as market trends see consumers moving away from sugary drinks.

EverSweet is produced through a fermentation process which extracts large quantities of Reb M and Reb D from the stevia plant in a sustainable way.

According to Cargill, EverSweet sweetener provides healthier options to consumers whether customers use it in beverages, dairy products or nutritional bars to name a few.

Cargill intends to address the customers’ needs to make lower calorie products that taste great and are affordable to all.
